Winged pig

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009 by greenboy

After years of shameless banner-carrying for the war on Islam and associated Shrubya apologia, the dumbass blogger of  Little Green Footballs says that now the American right wing is too extreme even for him!  The punchline is at the bottom of the article:

“[Charles] Johnson told me that he’d never considered himself a ‘conservative.’”

Yeah, I’ve never considered him a conservative either – the word that springs to my mind is ‘reactionary,’ or ‘war-monger.’

What will the army of wrong-wing bloggers do?

…if Rupert Murdoch cuts off their links to WSJ and their other sources of content?   I guess they’ll be limited to Glenn Beck YouTube clips and Drudge dreck.  Cut ‘em off Dark Lord!

Wrong-wing hate & violence on the rise

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 by greenboy

I’ve been warning for some time about the rising levels of wrong-wing hate, and how that hate is again turning to either outright violence, preparing for violence or just simple hate-mongering and hate-speech that can incite others to violence.  Now others are noticing a dramatic resurgence of militia activity that is

“(is) reminiscent of what was seen in the 1990s – right-wing militias, people ideologically against paying taxes and so-called “sovereign citizens” are popping up in large numbers, according to the report to be released Wednesday. The SPLC is a nonprofit civil rights group that, among other activities, investigates hate groups”

Did you catch the news about the wing-nut who brought and dropped a gun at a political meeting?  I mean I know the reactionaries are crazy and stupid, but do they really believe the Libruhls are gonna attack their crazy tea-bag parties and protests?  Don’t they realize that we aren’t armed?

Back in the Clinton era my own life was threatened by some wing-nut because I had posted a tongue-in-cheek website parodying the ‘black helicoper’ crowd (the main reason why I remain anonymous on this site).  Bad as the Bush years were, the wing-nuts seemed to calm down in spite of the volume and stridency of the reactionary media hate speakers like Billo the Clown and Ann Coulter.

However the massive rejection of the Repugs at the polls and the election of a centrist President seems to have thrown them back into a frenzy that if anything seems even nastier and scarier than before.  Living in San Francisco as I do I rarely encounter reactionaries, but today I was having a conversation with a self-described “moderate” from the South who went on at length about Obama’s Socialist agenda for health care and financial services, and railed about the swelling deficit – a guy who never squawked once about how Shrubya threw Clinton’s balanced budget to the wind and drove up the deficit like a two-bit lobbyist with a federal credit card.

I guess one of the downsides of the end of the “War on Terror” is that the reactionary talking heads have turned the other half of their hate rhetoric, formerly targeted at the Islamic world, at us Libruhls, again firing at us figuratively and literally with ‘both barrels.’

*Update* Bill Clinton better worry if he plans to participate in the contentious health care ‘town hall’ meetings - wing-nuts might use this guy’s technique to conceal an assassination weapon.

Reactionary hate demonstrated at the highest levels

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008 by greenboy

Case in point CongrAssClown Robin Hayes of NC tells a crowd of John McCain supporters that “liberals hate real Americans.”  These fucking reactionaries aren’t even bothering to use code words anymore.

*Update* And what about this evil CongrAssClown Michele Bachmann R Minnesota, calling liberals anti-American, and calling for an witch hunt in Congress for Reps with ’Un-American’ views:

The 2nd Germsman

Friday, September 19th, 2008 by greenboy

The Anthrax attacks following 9/11 have always disturbed me. I’m no conspiracy theorist, but it was odd that Shrubya put a bumbling fool on the case who smeared the wrong guy (who ended up getting a bunch of our taxpayer money in recompense), then put a team on it that has dragged it out for years. Then, on the eve of getting grand jury approval to start a trial, the key suspect of the new investigation mysteriously commits suicide – amidst revelations that he was a known nut-jub.

To top it off, Senator Patrick Leahy just came out to say that he believes the anthrax terrorist didn’t act alone:”:

If he is the one who sent the letter, I do not believe in any way, shape or manner that he is the only person involved in this attack on Congress and the American people,” Leahy told FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III at a hearing yesterday. “I believe there are others involved, either as accessories before or accessories after the fact. I believe that there are others who can be charged with murder.”

Great, now we’re gonna be stuck with decades of Conspiracy Nuts writing books and creating documentaries about ‘the 2nd Germsman’ on the grassy knoll. Me? While I doubt there was a real conspiracy behind the attacks, I am quite convinced that the Cheney Shrubya Administration cynically used the attacks to increase public, media & Congressional fear in order to sell their crazy wars, and more…purposefully put the “B Team” on the case to drag it out beyond the point where anybody but conspiracy nuts would remember it (not hard here in the U.S.).

Another assassin wannabe

Something about a successful Dem presidential candidate seems to bring the American fundee gun-nuts out of the woodwork – meet Jerry Blanchard, the latest wrong-wing terrorist:

Blanchard allegedly told two diners at a restaurant July 15 he planned to kill Obama with a rifle. He allegedly made a similar threat at a Crowne Plaza Hotel July 28.

The newspaper reported Blanchard has referred to Obama as the Antichrist and said, “If he gets elected, we have a problem.”

God help us all if one of these nuts get through…

Meanwhile, the boat is sinking…

‘Flat-Earth’ libertarians and reactionaries continue to remain in denial, but scientists are converging in agreement that human activity is the most significant factor in global warming over the last century. What is worse is that the ‘wailing Cassandras’ of the environmental movement were right – global warming will lead to a tremendous numbers of extinctions.

Of course there is a rhetorical silver lining for the SUV-huggers; the scientists also determined that the Kyoto protocol was by far too wimpy to have a serious impact on global warming, so in blowing off the treaty, President Asteroid-Impact hasn’t significantly influenced the final outcome.
