*Update 7/21/10* Reactionary ‘humor’ always seems to involve violence.  And this nut was stopped by sheer luck from doing a Texas-style gun massacre at the ACLU and the Tides Foundation.

Reactionary losers looking for a fight

Armed protesters on the National Mall?  On the anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing? 

Last summer I had remarked on how the complete repudiation of the GOP at the polls would spark a repeat of the wrong-wing wackiness and terror of the late ’90s.  I was really expecting more militia activity, abortion clinic terror and media hate talk, all of which has been delivered.

But this so-called Open Carry protest has a whole different quality.  The no-dick big-mouth gun nuts now strut into public,  family settings like National Parks and Starbucks, brazenly displaying their ability to target and kill us with a squeeze of the trigger.

Now they are marching on the Capitol, brandishing weapons?  Are these guys transforming into the Sinn Féin to the militia group’s IRA?

Seriously, it’s just a matter of time now before some wacko unloads on an elected leader or government official – or car bombs another Federal building.    Make no mistake, this is terror of the early Nazi brownshirt variety, and the target is you, me and the rule of law.

Better not forget the extra foam, barrista, this gun has a hair-trigger!

Regardless of how lame the Obama Administration has been, the recent and upcoming SCOTUS rulings on gun control should be a wake-up call about how wrong the Naderites were about how there is ”no difference between the Democrats and Republicans.’  Shrubya had 8 years to replace retiring liberal and moderate justices with reactionary activists.  The result?  Sometime this summer you are going to wake up one morning in a country where all gun control laws have been abolished.

You can get a preview of things to come by watching the gun nuts parade around with their weapons in our restaurants and national parks.  I bet it won’t be long before we have some dramatic shootout, where one of these unhinged, delusional vigilantes tries to stop an armed robbery and blows away some poor coffee patron.  Or maybe a couple of these loons will shoot at each other, thinking they are stopping a robber!  Hard to guess, but I’m sure it will happen soon, and sure it will be bloody.

Given the current extremists in the court, my guess is that we are one lawsuit away from a similar overturn of Roe v. Wade.

So stop your whining, suck it up and work hard to make Obama successful, now and in his next run – because we are just one Scalia or Thomas heart-attack away from an appointment of a real justice and a non-loony majority.

Forget criminal background checks for buying weapons, how about a simple intelligence test?  That would probably disqualify 80% of the gun nuts.

In these days of mounting wrong-wing rage, featuring shouting lunatics in disrupting town hall meetings and outside overly armed nut jobs prowl around Presidential appearances waiting for some provokation to empty their magazines on their fellow Americans.

Forget “free speech” zones, the very thought has become horribly quaint – I propose that we establish “free fire” zones where the rageoids can be free to open fire. ESPN could even create a special channel to broadcast the wingnut on wingnut action while the rest of us can go on quietly and respectfully debating the important issues of the day.
