So, I came home from work, and someone had redecorated the house without telling me…

I don’t know if this is our permanent new look or not. Hell, I don’t even know who did this.

But my guess is that one of my co-bloggers (probably Fubar) decided the best way to overcome our technical problems of the last couple of days was to start fresh with a new design theme. I have to admit it’s an improvement in some ways, though (hopefully) not a finished work — I think the intent was just to do something quickly to get things halfway readable again.

Or maybe it’s a desperate ploy to increase repeat readership (“Hey, come back tomorrow and see if the site design changes again!”). Hmm…

Stumble it!

At the risk of having my DNA traced back to Ned Ludd, I confess to liking the old, old format, with jaunty Needlenose himself presiding. That format had a definite identity (persona and presence) to complement the high octane posts.

Maybe this new layout can head in that direction once the stability issues are resolved.

PS: Isn’t there a WP template for “scathing brilliance”?

Yeah sure you bettcha, just don’t get rid of Freddy Kilowatt’s evil twin.

The layout is nice, but I also agree with rota on the presence of the old format. You need the needlenose logo back. Oh and one more thing. Two words:

    Post authors

Poking around behind the scenes, I have reason to believe some of the changes mentioned above are already in the works.

Update: I am pleased to announce that I added post authors without blowing up the site (yet).

Mea culpa. I wasn’t able to figure out what else might have been changed in the css files, and fearing that there might be more malware code embedded, just threw a temporary theme in place.

If I didn’t have a more than full-time job, or if I had the assistance of a PHP-literate web developer, I could probably fix this faster.

I think it was a good solution — definitely better than our CSS-free look last night. :)

Thanks. We could probably just edit this new theme to restore all our friends, like Sparky and John Brown.

It definitely looks better than yesterday. Thanks for putting up the post authors. I was previously at a loss who to direct my adoration (or scorn) at :)

I’m sure the new format will be a change for the best.

Maybe tile the page background with a jpg of the Needlenose guy until you get the bugs stomped out.
I like to know what site I’m at, and he’s how I know I’m HERE ;)
