Forget criminal background checks for buying weapons, how about a simple intelligence test? That would probably disqualify 80% of the gun nuts.

You actually misread the article. The headline of this story on SFGate yesterday was ‘Colo. boy shot with gun hidden by Christmas tree’. It wasn’t the parents who hid the gun at all, just that conspiratorial conifer–who’s probably a paid agent of the anti-gun lobby! Remember, guns don’t kill people, pine trees who conceal loaded weapons kill people!
